Developed by Biofeedback Therapist Jennifer Stephens, M.A.

"Jennifer Stephens first approached me about her interest in the treatment of urinary incontinence in 1992...When Jennifer described newer bladder control exercises which seemingly offered a “risk-free” alternative to surgery, I was very interested if slightly skeptical. At that time, there were only a few studies which discussed “pelvic floor rehabilitation” via biofeedback techniques. Jennifer’s experience with biofeedback and her excitement over its use to improve pelvic floor strength and decrease incontinence convinced me to look further.

I decided to take a chance on this new approach to incontinence and was not disappointed by what I observed over the years to come. My patients were clearly getting better after seeing Jennifer...."

Do i have an over active bladder? i'm 13 years old and afraid to tell my parents.?

Question: Do i have an over active bladder? i'm 13 years old and afraid to tell my parents.?

(Posted by: Abbie B on 2008-10-30 17:48:37)

I have been going through this for years now. I haven't told anyone because i never thought it was a huge deal. But now that I am 13 and i have noticed that it has been getting much worst. I have been wetting my self at leased once every two weeks, due to laughing, and just having to go to the bathroom so suddenly that i have no time to go. Sometimes its just a slip but other times its a lot. Very recently I have been going to the bathroom about every two hours and its really interfering with school. Do i really have an overactive bladder? if i do what should i do? how do i tell my parents?

Just tell your parents what you just told us. You need to get examined to see what is causing these symptoms and get it under control. You have to make the first move and let your parents know that there is something wrong.

Don't be embarrassed. Talk with you parents and tell them what is going on. It could be overactive bladder, could be kidney or bladder infection could be a number of things. The only way you are going to know for sure is to go the your doctor and tell them what is going on and how long it has been going on. It seems like your symptoms are getting worse and you may reach a point where you have no control of your bladder at all. So again, don't wait, talk with your parents and get checked out.

Go to Mayo Clinic.Com and read about over active bladder. You need to talk to your mom about your concerns so you can get to a Dr. you could have stones, cystitis, or growth. If you have not started your periods yet this could be causing you problems. It will be okay..talk to your mom she would want to know about your heath.

Tell your parents. This is something that needs to be treated by a medical professional. Just tell your parents the symptoms that you are having. They will understand. They will wish you had told them sooner.
